Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is a fantasy adventure film based on Walt Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride at the Disney theme parks. The storyline was written by Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio, Stuart Beattie, and Jay Wolpert under the direction of Gore Verbinski.
The film composed of a cast ensemble including well-known Hollywood stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa, Jack Davenport as Commodore Norrington, Kevin McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, Zoe Saldana as Anamaria, Jonathan Pryce as Governor Weatherby Swann, Lee Arenberg as Pintel, and Mackenzie Crook as Ragetti.
The Pirates of the Caribbean receive mostly positive acclaim from the critics all over the world rating an average of 7.1/10. It earned a box office hit and a gross revenue of $654,264,015 from a budget of $140million under the distribution of Walt Disney Pictures.
