Superman Returns is a 2006 superhero film and the fifth instalment of the Superman film series. The film was directed by Bryan Singer and was created through the production studios of Legendary Pictures, DC Comics, Peters Entertainment, and Bad Hat Harry Productions. Warner Brothers distributed the film and the superhero film earned a total gross revenue of $391,081,192 for its box office from the budget of $209 million.
The main characters of the film were portrayed by Brandon Routh as Clark Kent / Superman, Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane, Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, James Marsden as Richard White, Parker Posey as Kitty Kowalski, Tristan Lake Leabu as Jason, and Marlon Brando reprises his role of Jor-El from the 1978 film with the use of previous footage combined with computer-generated imagery.
Supermn Returns received generally positive reviews from the critics and was well-accepted by both fans and just movie goers naming it one of the best blockbuster films of the year. It was nominated to several awards including Academy Award for Visual Effects and BAFTA Award for Best Special Visual Effects. It won Best Fantasy Film, Best Direction by Bryan Singer, Best Actor by Bryan Singer, best Writing by Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, and Best Music by John Ottman.
