The Blind Side is definitely one of the most successful films in 2009 having earned a box office hit of $309,208,309 for its worldwide gross income from the budget of only $29 million. It is a semi-biographical film inspired from a true story and was written by Michael Lewis under the direction of John Lee Hancock. The film was developed under the production studio of Jane Startz Productions and Blessington Film Productions under the distribution of Miramax Films.
The drama film stars Quinton Aaron as Michael "Big Mike" Oher, Sandra Bullock as Leigh Anne Tuohy, Tim McGraw as Sean Tuohy, Kathy Bates as Miss Sue, Lily Collins as Collins Tuohy, Jae Head as Sean "S.J." Tuohy, Jr., Ray McKinnon as Coach Cotton, Kim Dickens as Mrs. Boswell, and Adriane Lenox as Denise Oher.
The Blindside earned numerous awards and nominations including Best Picture, Best Sports Movie, Favorite Drama Movie, and Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actress, Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama, Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, Favorite Movie Actress, Movie Actress – Drama, for Sandra Bullock.
