The Orphan is a 2009 child-psychological thriller that was based from the story written by Alex Mace and was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. The film was created under the production studios of Dark Castle Entertainment and Appian Way Productions. It earned its box office hit with a total gross revenue of $78,337,373 under the distribution of Warner Brothers for United States, Optimum Releasing for United Kingdom, StudioCanal for France, and Village Roadshow for Australia.
The plot of the film focused on a 9-year old girl named Ester that was adopted by the Coleman couple from the local orphanage. At first Ester seemed to be a really sweet and well-mannered young girl, however as time passes Kate Coleman, John Coleman’s wife, became suspicious of her because she somehow acts oddly than any other regular 9-year old girl. It also triggered Kate more to dig in information about Ester when weird things started to happened around the people who gets involved with Ester.
