Sherlock Holmes is an action mystery film that was based from the well-known characters of Arthur Conan Doyle. The plot of the film was written by Lionel Wigram and Michael Robert Johnson under the direction of Guy Ritchie. The mystery film was created under the production studios of Silver Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures and was distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It earned a box office hit by having the total gross income of $524,028,679 from the budget of $90 million.
It is actually one of the best films in 2009 being able to produce an action movie with a taste of thrilling mystery full aura. It also composed a well-recognized and talented casts which includes Robert Downey, Jr.as Sherlock Holmes, Jude Law as Dr. John Watson, Mark Strong as Lord Henry Blackwood, Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler, Eddie Marsan as Inspector Lestrade, and James Fox as Sir Thomas Rotheram.
The film earned mostly positive reviews from critics. It also received a lot of awards and nominations. The second sequel of the film is set to be released on 2011 entitled Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
