The Princess and the Frog is an animated musical fantasy-adventure film remake of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale titled “The Frog Prince”. The film was produced by Peter Del Vecho and directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. It was created under Walt Disney Studios and was distributed under Walt Disney pictures which earned them a gross income of $267,045,057 from a budget of $105 million.
The plot of the story revolves in a young goal driven woman named Tiana from New Orleans who had put away other things such as love and personal enjoyment just to reach her and her father’s dream of putting up a restaurant.
A young prince from Maldonia named Naveen went to visit New Orleans and was targeted by a voodoo witch doctor because it was learned that the young prince was to marry a young rich woman from New Orleans. The young prince Naveen was then transformed by the voodoo witch into a frog and extracted some blood of him to create a duplicate of him to pretend for his place. Luckily Prince Naveen escaped from the voodoo witch and saw Tiana while wearing a princess gown due to the costume party that she was attending. Prince Naveen thought that Tiana was a real princess and remembered about the story of the “The Prince Frog” in which the spell from the frog prince was broken by a kiss from a princess.
The prince made a deal with Tiana that if she’d kiss him, he would give him enough money to buy the restaurant that Tiana have wanting to purchase for years. Tiana reluctantly agreed to the prince and kiss him. But instead of turning the prince back into a human, it turned Tiana into a frog which doubled the problem. Together, they journeyed to find the aid of Mama Odie, a good witch from the bayou.
The characters in the Disney film were voiced by Anika Noni Rose as Tiana/"Tia", Bruno Campos as Prince Naveen, Michael-Leon Wooley as Louis, Jim Cummings as Ray, Keith David as Doctor Facilier, Jenifer Lewis as Mama Odie, Peter Bartlett as Lawrence, John Goodman as Eli "Big Daddy" La Bouff, Oprah Winfrey as Eudora, Tiana's mother, and Terrence Howard as James, Tiana's father.
