From the creators of Ice Age, Rio is a 2011 computer animated musical comedy movie that was released in 3D last April of 2011. It was distributed by 20th Century Fox and produced by Blue Sky Studios. It earned a gross revenue of $468,663,059 worldwide from the budget of $90 million.
The story took place in Rio de Janeiro which is a city in Brazil. Blu is a Blue Macaw and the only male of its specie that is left.
A Brazilian Ornithologist from Rio de Janeiro came to Minnesota to find Blue and take him back to Rio to mate him with the only female Blue Macaw left in the world. At first Linda, Blu’s owner was still unsure whether to bring Blu back to Rio but eventually agreed to the idea. They brought back Blu to Rio with the idea of making him mate with Jewel, the only living Female blue macaw in order to save the Blue macaw specie. Not to their knowledge, there was a guy plotting of kidnapping the Blue macaws and sell it in a high price since it is due to it nearly extinction. Blu and Jewel escaped together with their newly made friends and out ran those smugglers.
The main characters were voiced by Jesse Eisenberg as Blu and Anne Hathaway as Jewel. Other casts were George Lopez, Jermaine Clement, Tracy Morgan, Will.i.am, and Jamie Foxx and a lot more.
